Scar improvement

Scars are challenging to eliminate entirely, but with meticulous planning and expert care, they can be significantly improved. In this case, a patient presented with a Basal Cell Carcinoma on the nasal bridge. After complete excision of the cancer with clear margins, a full-thickness skin graft was chosen over primary closure or a flap to prevent tension and distortion, which could be difficult to correct without additional surgery. The donor skin was carefully selected to ensure a close match. Subsequent refinements were made using advanced energy devices and injectable treatments to achieve an optimal aesthetic outcome. Still Room for Improvement...

Cheek surgery is often challenging due to the natural contours and complexity of the area, making restoration difficult. The scar on the left shows a commendable result (with imperfections highlighted under side lighting). Scar Happens...

Hypertrophic Scar

Possible Melanoma

Biopsy is pending, however, melanoma is very likely. It is hidden under the bra strap, and is totally asymptomatic.

SCC

Squamous cell carcinoma can be painful. In this location, reconstruction with skin graft is required once the cancer is removed surgically. Recovery is expected to be about 7 to 14 days if the graft took (which usually do in this location).

No Discrimination

Skin cancers (including melanoma) do not always appear in sun exposed area.

Capillaries and Veins

Can be minimised with injection, cauterisation, and various energy devices. However, the simplest will be with the use of laser.

Scar

Ear, neck and chest are prone to hypertrophic or keloid scar, should treat those areas with great respect. Scar like this is better to prevent it, however, once it is developed, it can be minimised with injection and various energy devices.

SCC

Function and appearance can optimally preserved if surgery is properly planned.
